Before surgery, there are things you should do and prepare so you won’t have to worry about it when you come home. Here are some things to consider
Cleaning the House. The worst thing is to come home to a messy house after surgery. You should do a thorough cleaning or hire a cleaning service to clean your house. You should definitely clean the areas you would frequent during your recovery such as your bedroom and bathroom. But cleaning your entire dwelling is best. Try Amazon Home Services
Create your recovery space. You don’t realize this until you are back home, but you are going to be pretty stationary in one area. Make this area your sanctuary. Put all of your necessities within arm’s reach, such as your laptop, phone, and remotes on a nightstand where you will be laying down. Also, make sure that any electronics that you think you will be using have the charger(s) already plugged in nearby. See recovery space tips.
Create paths. Make sure the paths you take (e.g. from your recovery space to the bathroom) are clear and clutter free. You are taking baby steps everywhere you go. The last thing you want to do is trip.
Pack. You should have two sets of “luggage” one for the hospital and one for recovery. See the packing list
Food. Shop for the foods you will eat after recovery, before your surgery. Soups and light meals are best. If you will be by yourself for the majority of the day or the person who is going to take care of you is not the best cook, you should prepare your meals in in advance and create a weekly menu that is easy for them to follow.
